This month the popular, award-winning DVD series "I Love Toy Trains" released it's 15th title, All Aboard! I was not familiar with any of the series series prior to reviewing the new All Aboard! DVD, but it's already a hit in our house! The kids and I loved it because it was both fun and educational. The show features entertaining themed train sequences (Halloween, Area 51, Lego Town, etc) with historical bits about trains sprinkled throughout. I was surprised that my son Peter, who is 3.5 years old, actually paid attention and learned something from his first time watching it. For example, at one point the narrator talks about Mount Rushmore and shows it on the screen. After the movie was over, my son ran to his room to get a map and pointed to a cartoon drawing of Mount Rushmore on it excitedly saying, "Mommy, mommy, look, this was on the TV!" I was impressed!
The kids' favorite scene was "The Big Rocky Candy Mountain" song which of course featured a lot of candy cargo riding around in toy trains. Another really cool scene was the Lego Town, built entirely out of legos. Some of the designs include a fire department, carousel, grand emporium, hotel, and of course, trains and tracks!
The DVD description reads:
A new, exciting I Love Toy Trains show for a new generation. More spectacular special effects than ever seen in a train video before - flying saucers, UFOs, jet airplanes, jet trains, aliens, ghosts and goblins, and your favorite candies being loaded and unloaded on Lionel accessories at the Big Rock Candy Mountain. See the world's largest G-scale, outdoor layout, a giant Lego layout plus six new songs by our favorite singer/songwriter, James Coffey.
The 14-part I Love Toy Trains is one of the best-selling childrens' video series in the country. It has thrilled and delighted millions of kids and grown-ups. I Love Toy Trains - All Aboard! is wall-to-wall train action for a new generation of train fanatics.
I Love Toy Trains: All Aboard! runs approximately 40 minutes, is recommended for ages 3-8, and retails for $9.99.
