We know you love to save, but do you ever feel guilty when you spend? We recently conducted a survey along with one of our favorite deal sites, www.eversave.com to find out your shopping habits.
We asked more than 500 women about their shopping habits as part of the survey. And guess what we learned? Even though you are savvy shoppers - 37 percent of you have saved $51-$100 while making purchases – 67 percent of you still feel guilty about it. Thirty percent admit to hiding a purchase in the trunk of their car until they can sneak it in the house undetected – and we thought we were the only ones!. Fifty-five percent have also thrown something out or donated an old item to make room for new purchases. On the other hand, 18 percent of you shop guilt-free regardless of price. Last week, some of my fellow City Mommies and I had the delightful opportunity to interview Energizer spokesperson Peter Facinelli, star of The Twilight Saga and Nurse Jackie! I made this recipe last week when I had a friend visiting and it was a huge hit! My kids devoured it and I think they actually liked the broccoli better than the chicken. Don't you just love how broccoli heads absorb the flavor of whatever they're cooked in?!
Creamy Chicken & Broccoli Casserole
1 tub (10 oz.) Philadelphia Savory Garlic Cooking Creme
1/2 cup milk
1/4 c. chicken broth
1-1/2 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and cut into bite-sized pieces
1 lb. fresh broccoli crowns, thawed, cut into large bite-sized pieces
1-1/2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
24 crackers, crushed (about 1 cup)
1 Tbsp. butter, melted
In a large bowl, whisk together the cooking creme, milk, and chicken broth, until well combined. Add the chicken, broccoli, and cheese. Mix well. Place in a greased 9x13 baking dish and cover with foil. Bake at 400º for 25 minutes.
Meanwhile, combine the crackers and melted butter. Stir the chicken mixture and then top with crackers. Return to oven and bake uncovered for an additional 10 minutes or until topping is golden brown.
