Drugstore Deals: Saved 63% at Walgreens on Bic Luminere, Welch's, Betty Crocker, & more!

Well life has been so crazy lately  that I haven't made it out to any drugstores in a few weeks (bad idea... lost some registered rewards since they expired).  This week I made it to Walgreens but nowhere else.  I didn't save as much as I usually do, but I was able to score some great deals on things I needed/wanted.  Like Welch's Sparkling Grape Juice for $1.50 a bottle... it's more than that at Aldi, so that was a pretty good deal.  Same with the honey - I normally pay $3-something for a 24 oz. bottle at Aldi, and I got a 32 ox. bottle for $3.99 today!

Update: CVS 30% Off Purchase Offer Changed to Online Only

Late last night (well, early this morning to be precise, since it was just after midnight), I posted about a CVS 30% off entire purchase coupon starting today.  The discount was clearly advertised as being in-store or online, so today I was surprised to see that the CVS page now states that this is an online sale only.  I called CVS to inquire about this and was told that the in-store 30% off was an employee friend & family discount only.   Whether that's true or not, the fact remains that the page originally (view original page below, courtesy Google cache!) advertised something different than what is being advertised now. So I am disappointed in CVS for choosing to alter this sale but it is what it is.  The deal is still good for online orders if you're interested in that and there have been reports that some stores are honoring the discount if you print out the offer (see below).

Day 4: Aurora Plush Animals Review & Giveaway

You may already be familiar with Aurora plush toys from our Holiday Gift Guide.  I was introduced to Aurora this summer when my daughter Liberty received a "Yoohoo & Friends" birthday animal for her 1st birthday.  She was completely enthralled by it, especially because it played the tune "Happy Birthday" (which ended up being one of the first songs she learned how to "sing").  A few weeks later, I found myself running through downtown Boston in the dark trying to find it, since it had apparently fallen out of the stroller at some unknown point.  We almost missed our train out of the city, but I did find it on the sidewalk several streets back!

Aurora sent me several different plush toys to review, much to the delight of my children!   The first item was the Yoohoo 70s Love animal from the "Retro" Yoohoo & Friends line.  I really love the Yoohoo animals because they're so strangely adorable with their enomrous eyes.  The 70s Love animal plays a kissing sound when squeezed which is really cute.  The "Retro" line also includes a Punk Rocker, Pop Singer, Vegas, Flash Dancer, British Rocker and Disco Dancer.
 

The Dreamy Eyes line is absolutely precious!  The animals are bean-filled and so soft and cuddly.  The Dreamy Eyes animals are available in 13 brand new styles include tiger, pony, pig, cow, lion, elephant, monkey, giraffe, cat, pug, Chihuahua, frog and lamb.

 Cheeky "BFF" Carmen and Cheeky "Wrangler" Charlie are cute monkeys with velcro hands for easy hanging. Three newer styles in the line include Cheeky Charlie Rock Star, Cheeky Charlie Surfer, and Cheeky Charlie Zoo Keeper.

The Puppet Paws are from a new line available in White Tiger, Leopard, Black Panther, Bengal Tiger, Polar Bear and Lion.  The entire plush paw is soft, including the claws.  My son had a blast playing with the leapard paw! (BTW - his lips are blue from a Ring Pop.)

The Fancy Pals line is adorable, featuring a purse/pet carrier and plush animal.   My daughter Liberty became quite attached to the pink purse and purple kitty and kept referring to it as "pwetty"!  She loves carrying it around on her little arm.  Already a fashionista!  The Fancy Pals carriers are available in a variety of designs including poodle, pony, and leopard.

Music Review: Norah Jones' ...Featuring

I was recently given the opportunity to review the new Norah Jones album ...Featuring.  Eddie, the hubby, has been a big fan of Norah since her first album Come Away With Me debuted in 2002 so he was excited to be able to help me review her newest release.

...Featuring is a collection of all the compilations that Norah has done throughout her career and includes her most recent song, "Little Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John" (with Belle & Sebastian).  This album definitely highlights Norah's ability to work with a wide variety of artists and array of musical styles.  On this CD you are guaranteed to find songs that will you love, although because of its diversity you may not appreciate every single track. Our personal favorites include "Love Me," "Virginia Moon" (with the Foo Fighters), and "Baby It's Cold Outside" (with Willie Nelson).  I would recommend this CD to any Norah Jones fan as it showcases some of her best and most versatile work yet.

Day 3: Peter Pan Pop-Up Book from Silver Dolphin Books Review & Giveaway

My entire family was thrilled to review Peter Pan from Silver Dolphin Books.  We weren't expecting it to be such a work of art!  This is, without a doubt, the most elaborate pop-up book I have ever seen.  The detailed 3-D illustrations are fantastic!  Plus the book also includes atmospheric sound effects on each page containing a pop-up picture.  These sound effects are of a much higher quality than the ones I am used to from my children's (many) other books with sound.  You can preview all of the marvelous pop-up illustrations and sounds in the video below.



The story of Peter Pan is abridged to make it easy to read in one sitting, but the retelling stills captures the full tale of Peter Pan.  Although the recommended age for this book is 4 and up, both of my children (ages 3 and nearly 1 1/2) thoroughly enjoyed Peter Pan.  They probably didn't fully comprehend the story itself but they were fascinated by the pop-ups and sound effects.  And I won't let them read it alone because I'm sure they'd rip the pages, but it makes a wonderful bedtime storybook with Mommy or Daddy!

Peter Pan is available from Silver Dolphin Books and Amazon.  They also have a wide variety of other books including The Wizard of Oz in a similarly stunning pop-up format!

Pay It Forward: Help Hanes Donate Up to 500,000 Pairs of Socks

Hanes is launching a Sock Drive benefitting The Salvation Army. Beginning yesterday, December 1, for every Hanes Facebook fan who clicks “Help Hanes Donate,” Hanes will donate an actual pair of socks towards its goal of 500,000 pairs (or 1 million individual socks).

Hanes held its first sock drive last year after learning that socks are the number one more requested items in homeless shelters. This year, Hanes has increased its goal from 100,000 pairs of socks to 500,000!
