Tonight my family and I had the opportunity to see Sesame Street Live “Elmo Makes Music” at the Owensboro RiverPark Center. I mentioned before that my children love Sesame Street, so naturally they were delighted to see all of their favorite Sesame Street friends larger than life singing and dancing on the stage! The kids celebrated their love of Sesame by wearing their Elmo and Abby Cadabby costumes from Halloween to the show tonight:
The show opened with Ernie and Bert talking about the letter and number of the day and then Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Grover, Rosita, Zoe, and Telly came out singing the beloved Sesame Street theme song, Sesame Street. The kids, of course, enthusiastically sang along!
Then Jenny, the new music teacher, arrived having just moved to Sesame Street. Jenny’s truck of musical instruments is missing and the Sesame Street friends resolve to help by giving her new instruments. The show progressed with many high energy musical numbers as different characters discovered that everyday things can make music.
Our favorite songs included some old favorites like Elmo's World, C is for Cookie, and The ABC Song (much to Liberty's delight as it has been her favorite song ever since she learned how to talk!), as well as some new ones like Fuzzy and Blue and The Triangle Song.
The finale featured another Sesame Street classic number, Sing. At the end, the show finished with a bang – literally! With a loud pop, dozens of colored streamers shot out over the audience. Peter and Liberty called them “fireworks” and took home pieces of streamers as souvenirs.
Overall, the show was a wonderful experience sure to be enjoyed by any Sesame Street fan. The Sesame Street characters, lively musical numbers, and fun atmosphere make a drive to Owensboro absolutely worthwhile!
