Recipe Wednesday: Cream Cheese Crescent Bars

This is one of my favorite desserts to make because it's simple, scrumptious, and inexpensive... especially if you catch the right sales with your coupons!  And it's a huge hit at parties - I always get asked for this recipe when I bring it to gatherings.

Cream Cheese Crescent Bars

2 (8 oz.) cans seamless crescent rolls
2 (8 oz.) pkgs. cream cheese, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 egg
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/8 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon

Line a 9x13 pan with aluminum foil and grease. Press one can of crescent rolls into the bottom of pan.  In a medium bowl, beat cream cheese, 3/4 cup of sugar, egg, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.  Pour cream cheese mixture over crescent rolls in pan.  Unroll second can of crescent rolls and carefully place on top of cream cheese mixture.  Brush top with melted butter and sprinkle with remaining 1/8 cup of sugar and cinnamon. Bake for 25-30 minutes at 350° or until the top is crisp and golden.
