My beautiful daughter Liberty turned 2 this month (hard to believe my baby is no longer a baby!) so this past Saturday we celebrated her birthday with a Sesame Street themed party. She enjoyed a homemade carrot cake and received some wonderful gifts including a Disney Princess baby doll, Graco baby doll gear, and a Cozy Coupe. Plus having the family gathered together was also a perfect opportunity for us to enjoy a classic summer pastime - s'mores!
My husband's parents have a fabulous fire pit which we used to toast the marshamallows. Liberty loved roasting a marshmallow for the first time! She didn't want to eat the marshmallow after it was done, though she sure had fun poking it into the fire. Big brother Peter was more than willing to help with the eating especially since he's a little chocoholic just like his mommy.
Unfortunately, he didn't get to enjoy this marshmallow after it took a tumble in some grass clipppings!
Everyone (except Liberty) enjoyed at least one s'more. While eating mine, I somehow managed to get sticky marshamallow on my arm and capris - totally worth it though!
This summer, the Hershey Company is encouraging families to create their own S’mores memories with the Say S’mores campaign. Families are invited to capture and share their favorite S’mores moments on the Hershey’s brand Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/hersheys for a chance to win S’mores-themed prizes. The grand-prize is a Canon Rebel Camera, slate marble outdoor firebowl, $250 SnapFish gift card, roasting skewers set and all of the ingredients needed to make S’mores, including Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bars. Families who visit the Hershey’s brand Facebook page on or after June 15 can download the Say S’mores application to participate in monthly photo contests and receive a $1 coupon good toward the purchase of any two Hershey’s Milk Chocolate bar 6-packs.

My birthday is in July and, throughout my childhood, we'd always have an all-day neighborhood cook-out/party. All of the kids (including me!) looked forward to when it would get dark because that meant it was time to make S'mores! The best part was that it was so dark out that our moms couldn't see how messy and sticky we were getting, so we could run around, all sugared-up and dirty like a bunch of crazed animals. Some of the best memories...
ReplyDeleteI like the chocolate part best...in fact, I usually make s'mores for everybody else and just the chocolate myself.
